I think there can be but one outcome to this affair. 我認(rèn)為這件事只可能有一種結(jié)局。

She was satisfied with the outcome of her efforts. 她對(duì)自己努力的結(jié)果很滿意。

2.Pennies saved one or two at a time by bargaining at the grocery,at the bakery and the butcher’s until one’s check burnt.這些前是在雜貨店、面包房和肉鋪里討價(jià)還價(jià)爭(zhēng)得面紅耳赤從而一分、兩分地省出來(lái)的。

注意 at a time和以下這些短語(yǔ)的區(qū)別:

furnish的名詞為furniture,意為“家具”,是不可數(shù)名詞。

某些表示否定意義的副詞或短語(yǔ)位于句首時(shí)如rarely,not ,never, little,seldom, nowhere, hardly, not only , not until, neither---nor , no sooner----than , hardly ---when , in no time, by no means, under no circumstances, 等

從以上例子可看出,雖然這些詞組都表示“用光、用完”,但use up,run out of 為及物動(dòng)詞,而run out,give out為不及物動(dòng)詞。

歸納拓展:run into遇上,偶然遇到;陷于,碰上(困境、麻煩等)

I ran into Emma on my way home.我在回家的路上碰到了Emma。

If you run into difficulties,try to overcome them.如遇困難,要努力去克服。
