like作介詞意思為“像”,like 還可做動(dòng)詞用表示“喜歡”,like(doing)sth. 喜歡做某事。

2.How big are manatees? 海牛有多大?

how big... 詢問(wèn)體重。以how組合的疑問(wèn)詞組有很多,如:

how old 問(wèn) how often問(wèn) how long問(wèn)動(dòng)作持續(xù)

how 問(wèn)質(zhì)量或者價(jià)錢(qián) 問(wèn)距離 how many問(wèn)數(shù)量

how soon問(wèn)

3….they weigh about 1,000 pounds, ……他們大約重1000磅。

weigh 稱……重量,測(cè)……重量。

4.現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)中延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞和終止性動(dòng)詞 如:become, begin, buy, borrow, arrive, die, finish, get to know, go, join, marry, start, stop等。它的現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)不能和表示延續(xù)的時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)連用,即不能與表示一段時(shí)間的狀語(yǔ), for+時(shí)間段, since+時(shí)間點(diǎn)/從句連用,也不能用在how long引導(dǎo)的特殊疑問(wèn)句。

常見(jiàn)終止性動(dòng)詞與延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞 (或狀態(tài)動(dòng)詞) 的對(duì)應(yīng)關(guān)系如下:

come / go / arrive / get / reach / move--- be in/at

open --- be open die --- be dead lose --- be closed become ---be borrow --- keep put on --- wear buy --- have leave-be awayfinish - be over begin/start - -be on

2. I’ve visited a lot of zoos in my life, and I have never seen one I liked or one that was suitable for animals to live in.

(1) be suitable for sb to do sth. 表示 “適合某人做某事”,這里suitable 是suit的形容詞形式,表示 “合適的”。

(2) to live in 在此處作animals的后置定語(yǔ)。英語(yǔ)中動(dòng)詞不定式短語(yǔ)做名詞定語(yǔ),放在后面。

3. The animals are kept in tiny cages. 動(dòng)物被關(guān)在極小的籠子里。

tiny=little 很小的, 帶有感情色彩. 區(qū)別, the tiny country 國(guó)家小 (含可愛(ài)的意思)

tiny和little常做定語(yǔ),一般不做表語(yǔ), small 既可以做定語(yǔ),也可以做表語(yǔ)。

little 還可表示 “一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)的”, 修飾不可數(shù)名詞。

surprised 在這里是過(guò)去分詞做形容詞。
