戴維·赫伯特·勞倫斯
戴維·赫伯特·勞倫斯(1885-1930)是二十世紀(jì)英國(guó)最獨(dú)特和最有爭(zhēng)議的作家之一。勞倫斯提倡人性自由發(fā)展,反對(duì)工業(yè)文明對(duì)自然的破壞。他的作品對(duì)家庭、婚姻和性進(jìn)行了深入探索,對(duì)20世紀(jì)的小說(shuō)寫作產(chǎn)生了廣泛影響。他是英國(guó)詩(shī)人、小說(shuō)家、散文家,曾在國(guó)內(nèi)外漂泊十多年。他寫過(guò)詩(shī),但主要寫長(zhǎng)篇小說(shuō),共有10部,最著名的為《虹》(1915)、《愛(ài)戀中的女人》(1921)和《查特萊夫人的情人》(1928)。
Softly in the dusk, a woman is singing to me;
Taking me back down the vista of years, till I see
A child sitting under the piano, in the boom of the tingling strings
And pressing the small, poised feet of a mother who smiles as she sings.

So now it is vain for the singer to burst into clamor
With the great black piano appassionato. The glamour
Of childish days is upon me, my manhood is cast
Down in the flood of remembrance, I weep like a child for the past.
此刻哪怕歌手突然爆發(fā)出喧聲強(qiáng)烈,
黑色大鋼琴也熱情奔瀉。童稚的日月
已經(jīng)把我迷住,我的男子氣概已沒(méi)入
回憶的洪波,我像孩子似的為過(guò)去哀哭。
