living in a big city英語(yǔ)作文 1
Different people hold different views about the question whether to live in the big city or a small town. Some people prefer the harmonious atmosphere and slow rhythm in the small place. However, personally speaking, I would like to live in the big city for better education, more job opportunities, and high quality of life.
Firstly, we can get better education in the big city than in the small town. It is well accepted thatschools get no access the computer commonly in the remote area for lack of fund and relatively poor local economy, let alone advanced facilities and multimedia teaching, but all of these are available in the city. Furthermore, not merely is there better learning environment, the teaching levels in city are far outweigh that in the small town, which will ensure better instruction to students and improvement of overall qualities.
Another advantages to live in a big city is that there are more job opportunities. For example, I want to be an excellent journalist after graduation and I am looking for a part-time job to accumulate experience. Contrary to the the situation in the small town that only in the cultural center can I find a job relative to my major, there are more choices in the city, such as magazine, news office, publishing company and so on. So abundant job opportunities there are that I can choose a most suitable onewhich can not only enrich my resume, but also functions as a valuable experience to put me in a favorable position in the future job market.
Finally, living in a big city is more convenient and comfortable. We can take public transportation to go to workplaces, use fitness facilities to keep healthy, buy any necessaries and commodities in a large market, get access to more TV channels or watch movies in the theater, and so on. The advancements of big city improve our living standards to a great degree, and life has been more enjoyable compared with living in the small town.
Therefore, we can safely conclude that we can get better education, more suitable jobs and lead a superior life in a big city than in a small town, and it is not surprising that the majority of people tend tomigrate from small towns to big cities today.
living in a big city英語(yǔ)作文 2
Some people prefer to live in a small town. Others prefer to live in a big city. Which place would you prefer to live in? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
I grew up in a small town and then moved to a big city, so I have experienced the good and bad sides of both. I never thought that I would like living in a big city, but I was wrong. After ten years of living in one, I cant imagine ever living in a small town again.
Small towns and big cities both have some problems in terms of transportation. In a small town, you have to own a car to ensure a comfortable living. You cant get around without one because there isnt any kind of public transportation. Big cities generally have heavy traffic and expensive parking, but there you have a choice of taking public transportation. Its not free, but its often cheaper than driving when you consider gas and time. Especially if you dont have a car, youre better off in the city.
I love the excitement of big cities. Small towns have a slow pace. Large cities mean you have to adapt to a variety of situations, like finding a new route to work or trying a new restaurant. I enjoy that challenge very much. Another pan of the excitement of city living is the variety of cultural activities available. There is a wide assortment of theatre, music and dance performances available in big cities. These things are rare in small ones.
The final thing I like about large cities is the diversity of the people. The United States is made up of people of different races, religions, abilities, and interests. However, you seldom find such a variety of people in a smaller town. I think that living in an area where everyone was just like me would quickly become boring.
Of course, security is a concern, and thats one area where small towns are superior to big cities. Still, I would rather be a bit more cautious and live in a large city than to feel secure but bored.
living in a big city英語(yǔ)作文 3
Living in a Large Modern City or in the Country?
"Avoid the rush-hours" must be the slogan of large cities the world over. Wherever you go, especiailat week-ends or on holidays, you' 11 find that the trains are packed, streets crowded, buses queued, restaurant tables shared. MoreOver, the smallest unforeseeh event like a power-cut, an exceptionally heavy snowfall or rainfall can bring about conditions of utter inconvenience and chaos.
City-dwellers are obliged by their environment to adopt a wholly unnatural way of life. They lose touch with nature and all the simple, good things of life like sunshine and fresh air at a premium. Tall buildings block out the sun. Traffic fumes pollute the atmosphere,The flow of traffic goes on unceasingly and the noise-never stops.
The funny thing about it all in a large modern city is,that you pay dearly for tht "privilege" of living. The demand for accommodation is so great that it is often impossible for ordinary people to buy a house/flat of their own. Furthermore, the cost of living is very high. Just about everything you buy is likely to be more expensive than it would be in the country.
In addition, city-dwellers live under constant threat. The crime rate in most cities is very high. Houses are often burgled.Cities breed crime and violence and are full of places you would be afraid to visit at night. If you think about it, they are not really fit to live in at all. Can anyone really doubt that the country is what man was born for and where he truly belongs?
living in a big city英語(yǔ)作文 4
A number of people prefer to live in countryside because they consider that living in big cities has many disadvantages.
First of all, the most obvious problem is traffic. In big cities, traffic jam is quite common everywhere, especially in the rush time. And a large number of people have to spend a great deal of time in going to work and coming back from work. In addition, traffic accident is another threat.
Second, with the increase of cars and buses in big cities, air pollution has become another disadvantage of living in big cities. Besides, a growing number of factory have also accounted for air pollution in big cities. Consequently, many diseases caused by air pollution are emerging in an endless stream.
Finally, another image of big cities is relative to noise, such as the noise of transportation, the noise of construction and so on.
In a word, living in big cities has many advantages but also disadvantages. And living in big cities or countryside should depend on our personal preference and needs.
living in a big city英語(yǔ)作文 5
People are always wondering whether the country or the big city is the idea place to live. Some person may choose to live in the big city, while the others are interested in the quiet and natural surrounding in the country. In my opinion, I would like to live in country, just like my hometown, rather than a big city, such as Beijing or Shanghai.
The foremost reason for dwelling in the countryside is the comfortable and friendly life. Since than the atmosphere in metropolis goes from bad to worse, the neighbors don ’t know each other and people suffer from the noisy of cars. Hardly persons could resist the fresh air, the friendly neighbors and the closeness to nature in the
countryside or a small town.
Live in the country or a small town. People could enjoy the first cock crow in the morning. The beautiful birds sing in the woods, fish swimming in the river, the
flowers bloom under the sunshine. What a great view. However, in the big city, people live in the forest which be made up of cement and steel. That’s not comfortable.
On the contrary, It is not that I belittle those who would prefer to stay in a big city. I think they have their life with much advantages. The traffic in metropolis is much batter than a village. And high technology could make the life more convenient.
Besides, aBetter education for children and a better medical care could be enjoyed by those who live in a big city.
But live in country means people could have apollution-free environment, a safer food supply and a bigger and cheaper housing. And I really miss my childhood wallpaper in the country where I grow up. It’s my happiest time.
In conclusion, I strongly hold that living in the countryside is much better than live in a big city because of the quiet surroundings in the countryside.

living in a big city英語(yǔ)作文 7
Many people appreciate the conve niences of the city. The city has better transportation service and health care. City dwellers can easily enjoy themselves in restaurants, department stores and con cert halls. They are well-informed about what is going on at home and abroad, and have the access to better education, better jobs and more opportunities for business.
But country life is also attractive. With the fresh air, the green trees and the singing birds, country people are close to nature and live a quiet life. They can make friends with simple and honest men or wander about leisurely without any pressure upon their mind.
Both the country and the city, however, have their own disadvantages. In the country, educational facilities, medical services and transportation systems are still not fully developed. And the city also has many problems, such as heavy traffic, air pollution, great noise and poor housing conditions.
As far as Im concerned, I hate the terrible dirt and noise in the city. So, given the chance, I would prefer to live peacefully in the country.
living in a big city英語(yǔ)作文 8
i would much rather live in the city than in the country. living in the country would be very boring and there wouldnt be the same opportunities as there are in the city. it is obvious that most people agree with me because most people choose to live in cities.
in the city, there are plenty of things for teenagers to do. they can go to the cinema as often as they like. because there are so many cinemas in a small area, they have lots of choice about what to see.there are plenty of other activities too. teenagers can go rollerblading or iceskating. they can go to skateboard parks,to swimming pools or to video arcades.
there is also plenty of choice in the city. for example, there are lots of restaurants to choose from. if you wanted to,you could have food from a different country every night of the week.
in the city, you can meet many interesting people from all walks of life, and from many different countries. for example,at my school, we have students from india, several pacific islands, greece, italy, the philippines, vietnam and lebanon.
facilities are much easier to get to in the city as well.whatever you need, you can find close by. there are baby health clinics in every suburb, police stations everywhere, and youth clubs within a few kilometers of your home.
a city is exciting, convenient and always changing.there is always plenty to do and see. and lots of different people to meet. i love the city i live in and i wouldnt live anywhere else.
